Choose a file name.
This will be used for both the
.q
query file and
.out
output file. Ideally, choose a file name that contains your name (so it is clear who formulated the query in case you share your file with others), a short description of what it is you were searching for, and the corpus in which you performed the query. A time stamp will be added automatically.
File name
Write a remark on what the query is meant for.
This will appear in both your query and output files. Try to explain what your query is meant to search for and your strategy for finding it.
Remark
Pick a corpus.
If you need more information on the corpora or their different versions, consult the
descriptions
from the "Corpora" section.

Set the parameter
nodes_only
,
which tells
CorpusSearch
whether to return the entire sentence containing a hit (
false
, the default), or to only return the specific node in which the hit occurs (
true
).
nodes_only:
false
true
Specify the node of your query,
i.e. the level at which you begin searching. Examples of possible values are
$ROOT
(the entire sentence),
IP*
(any IP, so the entire sentence but also any clauses at a lower level such as subordinate clauses), or
NP*
(search only within NPs).
Node
Formulate your query.
If you are unsure about how the
CorpusSearch
query syntax works, consult the
tutorial
from the "Search Tools" section.
Query
Please note that depending on the complexity of your query, it may take up to a few minutes to process. Thank you for your patience.
